Oh celebrities, how we worship you so! We, like a lot of people are unashamed of our obsession with tinsel town and all that live in it, that’s not to say we don’t love our Brit celebs so here are our pick of our favourite styles from both sides of the pond. These three faces will be big news in 2011.

Nicki Minaj, this peachy-bottomed lady is already making waves and is instantly recognizable by her outrageous style that stretched from clothes to hair. Now Minaj often wears wigs, which are strangely becoming quite fashionable these days. You can get an instant new look but to be honest, we will leave it to her and Lady Gaga, our ghds transform our locks just enough.

Jessie J, a relative stranger to most people, but this lady is riding high at the top of the charts and is set to stay there for most of this year and beyond. She is a singing sensation who has already caught the eye of some veteran music types such as Alicia Keys who she has even penned tunes for in the past so we know she is a genuine talent. You can get her style by getting hair cut into a medium-long bob with a long blunt fringe, her hair is super shiny aided by her dark brown colour. Keep your bob as straight as it gets with ghd stylers and opt for mini stylers if your bob is slightly shorter, these will work wonders with your fringe as well.

Willow Smith, now she might be young but Willow Smith, daughter of TV and movie hero Will Smith, is taking the world by storm with her quirky little pop slash r ‘n’ b anthems. She is paving the way for Afro hair, rocking out braids and cornrows in every which way she can. You can manage afro hair with the help of ghd salon stylers, your hair doesn’t have to be unmanageable ever again.

There is hardly anyone out there that is happy with his or her weight. More often than not we would all like to drop a few pounds so that we can feel thin and lithe. For many a good toning up session every week would suffice, but for some they need to lower their intake of food and replace it with more healthy options.

Having the will power to eat less can be extremely hard. This is why some people opt for a gastric band that shrinks the stomach making it impossible to eat as much as you once did. However, if you are not up for surgery and want a natural solution then perhaps Hoodia Gordonii is the answer.

Hoodia Gordonii is a cactus like plant found in Namibia and South Africa. It is not a plant you would perhaps want to grow in your back garden as the flowers smell like rotten meat and attract vast quantities of flies. However in its powder form it can help you loose weight. The reason for this being it fills you up and reduces the need for extra food. Tests in the UK showed that food intake was halved resulting in a calorie drop of 2000 a day. This then significantly reduced body fat. Perfect for those of us who need a helping hand on the dieting road.

You can get it in mint-flavoured tablets, and two different types of capsules. They come at quite a price, but it is best to view them as an investment. Just think of the money you would spend on the extra food that you will now not need. You then will feel less guilty spending the money.

So take the first step to loosing those unwanted pounds, and you will be a new person in a matter of months.

Ladies! What are you wearing for the Christmas party this year?

It’s a daunting decision that we all have to make. This year, however, a new site seems to be taking all the acclaim and is a hot favourite amongst women in the UK. Very.co.uk received over 50% of the votes in a poll by a popular online bingo portal who asked their readers to decide on the best site for party dresses.

Very.co.uk has been running a major TV campaign in the UK, and they clearly have the products to back it up. I found at least 5 dresses which I wanted – but alas I don’t think my bank balance can stretch that far!

Check out the Very.co.uk range of party dresses today!

So many of us are guilty of over washing our hair and this may be down to our working life style or our daily shower routines. However the more we wash our hair the more products we are ultimately going to use and this in turn can lead to a build up of residue, especially on the scalp.

Re washing our hair after a session at the gym or a long day at work may restore that initial freshness and pleasant smell but it also makes the hair a lot softer. If it is an updo we are aiming to achieve then we may have to resort to applying a hair gel, hair spray or fixing mousse. This is all very well for immediate great looking hair and a fab style but over time the hair will become stressed and in need of a break.

Whenever possible give your hair a day off as by doing this and on a regular basis you will restore your hair to its former glory and natural beauty. You can give your hair a break by opting to wash it less frequently, especially on days where you hair is not the essential focal point of your overall image. Opt to use a gentle shampoo and conditioner and air dry your hair without applying any form of heat. It might not look as good as you want but by allowing your hair to relax from all the hair care products and styling tools you will ultimately be letting it repair and care for itself.

Air drying the hair is considered to be the least damaging of hair drying methods since it does not involve using heat at a high temperature. Over use of a hair dryer or any styling instruments which involve heat can potentially dry the hair too much and result in the hair becoming damaged.

Generally speaking air drying is done by people who have short, low maintenance hairstyles or those with curly hair which does not require much in the way of styling. In addition many people with long hair tend to favour leaving it to air dry as it would require considerably more heat being applied in order to dry and style it. Long hair does demand more care in order to maintain healthy looking locks and regular heat appliance can make it susceptible to becoming overly dry and damaged.

However, even when allowing the hair to dry naturally it can become damaged from excessive rubbing with a towel and even tugging and pulling. Hair is at its weakest when wet so care should be taken when blotting out the initial moisture retained after washing. Never used a regular brush or comb when the hair is wet but rather a wide tooth comb or paddle brush. Start combing from the ends then slowly and gently work your way up towards the roots. Moreover, you should try to avoid using a brush until the hair is almost dry and detangle any knots using only your fingers as this will prevent any breakages.

How you choose to dry your hair is of course a matter of preference or practicality. In order to achieve maximum styling blow drying is the obvious choice, as well as being the most convenient when it comes to time.

The principle advantage that springs to mind when it comes to blow drying is that of convenience. Hair driers today come with a variety of setting including speed and temperature. By blow drying your hair you are able to dedicate more time and effort into creating a style. When used with the correct accessories such as a styling brush more volume can be added to the hair which had to be a positive advantage for many people.

On the other hand blow drying your hair can be quite damaging. If excessive heat is applied to the hair on a regular basis you run the risk of drying out your hair, leaving it brittle and prone to breakages. Before even picking up a hand held hair drier you should make sure the hair is not soaking wet. Blot it as much as possible with a towel and detangle using a wide tooth brush or comb. The hair is at its most vulnerable when wet so you need to take care that you do not cause any undue damage.

Avoid pulling or tugging at the hair and never use the dryer at the maximum heat setting. Hold the blow dryer at least six inches away from your hair and try not to keep it positioned in the same spot for longer than 5 seconds. Always leave the hair slightly damp to retain some of the moisture from washing as drying until completely dry can cause damage and lead to a dry flaky scalp, also referred to as dandruff.

In order to achieve that certain look so many of us are willing to put our hair through just about anything. Colouring, perming, spraying, back combing, straightening and curling will all take their toll in the long run if due care and preparation is not taken at some point.

Having great looking hair is not just about styling but also caring, grooming and protecting. It is not only keeping it clean that we should worry about, we need to remember that heat is one of the main causes of damage to our hair. The sun is a natural heat which can strip the hair from moisture and in some instances burn and dry out the scalp, from where natural cleansing oils are produced. In addition to the sun there are a number of heated styling appliances that require high temperatures. When used on a regular basis the hair gradually becomes dry and brittle and before long split ends occur causing the hair to weaken and eventually break.

Therefore we need to remember that our hair needs nourishment and will only recover if treated right. Applying a deep nourishing conditioner on a regular basis will work wonders to replace any lost moisture. Leave in conditioners are also a must when using either a hair dryer or straighteners.

If exposed to external heat from the sun, protect your hair by firstly applying a vitamin based conditioner that protects against the harmful UV rays and secondly cover it up by wearing a sunhat or scarf.

Protection is without doubt the best way to protect but regular maintenance is a definite must in order to keep the hair looking and feeling healthy. Trimming the hair every 2 to 3 months will also strengthen the hair and encourage growth.

The main reason why people opt to straighten their hair is to eliminate curls. This can either be done on a day to day basis using a heated styling tool known as curling irons or by a chemical process known as relaxing. Chemical hair straightening involves a process where the basic structure of over curly hair or even wavy hair is changed into a permanent straight form.

Before going ahead with chemical hair straightening it is highly recommended to seek to advice of a professional stylist so that you are fully aware of what the process entails. As fairly strong chemicals are used to relax the hair you need to know what type of hair you have along with where you can go for guaranteed successful end results.

Chemical hair straightening should always be performed by a professional who has a trusted track record of carrying out this process. A good stylist will perform a strand test beforehand in which time they can establish your hair type and the strength of the chemicals need to relax and straighten the hair. Along with hair texture the porosity, elasticity and any visible signs of damage need to be assessed and evaluated before the process can begin.

Chemical hair straightening is not a difficult procedure to perform but it should always be left to the hands of the professionals. For example coloured or permed hair, which has already been submitted to chemical manipulation, needs to be treated differently. In such cases a far milder relaxing formula should be used but all details of hair type need to be established beforehand.

The hair is without doubt one of the most important features of a women. Alongside clothes and makeup, hair care is up there as one of the things women spend their money on. With so many products available on the market and so many celebrities setting the newest trends it can be hard to keep up with the latest fashions, not to mention expensive.

Over the years we have seen beehives, back combing, bleaching, highlights, perms, extensions and hair straightening. As a result of the ever changing styles, the market for grooming products has multiplied by a thousand, in fact so much so that it can actually be quite difficult to know what to buy. Because of the choice available, caring for your hair doesn’t have to be expensive. The price range caters for all budgets therefore capturing a huge client base and clever marketing leaves people feeling that they absolutely need to buy certain products.

Just about everyone has a hair dryer and a brush or comb but how many are using the correct shampoo and conditioner that matches their hair type? Many go for the cheaper brands as a way to save money while others will opt for the fancy designer label that is totally mismatched to their specific hair type. With hair looking limp, dry, frizzy or dull it is therefore no wonder that we continue to spend money on hair care hoping to make that one purchase that will turn our hair into healthy looking locks.
